AI as your language exchange partner: Spanish, French or German at your level

You have been doing Spanish or French for years and you still cannot hold five minutes of conversation. That is not strange: lessons involve reading, writing and exercises, while speaking gets a fraction of the time and feels embarrassing anyway. With AI the embarrassment disappears, because you can fumble forty times in a row and nobody is watching.

Three settings that change the outcome

• State your level. A2 or B1 is not a nice label, it is the instruction that stops it answering with words you have never met.
• Ask for corrections at the end. Corrected every sentence, you stop talking and start copying. Corrected afterwards, you actually talk and then learn.
• Pull the vocabulary from your own life. The words that stick are the ones about your school, your sport and your shows, not unit 7 of the textbook.

Let us have a conversation in [SPANISH / FRENCH / GERMAN]. My level is [A2 / B1] and I am [YOUR AGE]. Speak only in that language, with sentences at my level, and ask me one question at a time so I have to answer. Today's topic: [YOUR DAY, YOUR SPORT, A SHOW, ANYTHING]. Do not correct me while we talk, not even if I make a lot of mistakes: I want to loosen up. When I write END, stop and give me three things: my five most repeated mistakes explained in English, how each of those sentences would sound natural, and ten useful words I was missing today.

Now a role play in [LANGUAGE], level [A2 / B1]. You are [A WAITER / A HOTEL RECEPTIONIST / SOMEONE IN THE STREET I ASK FOR DIRECTIONS] and I am a teenager visiting. Stay in character the whole time, make it slightly hard (speak fast, ask something unexpected) but not impossible. If I get stuck and write HELP, give me only the missing word, not the whole sentence.

None of this replaces a person. A native speaker gives you accent, gestures, speed and the expressions no textbook prints, and a lesson gives you real correction. AI fills the gap in between, which happens to be the one that matters most: the days between lessons, when there is nobody around to practise with.
