Tidying your room before school starts, turned into a mission

A few days left before school starts, and the bedroom is still in holiday mode: the desk where homework is supposed to happen holds an unfinished summer project, three beach stones and a charger nobody claims. And every time somebody says tidy your room, the same thing happens, which is nothing.

That is not laziness, it is a question of size. Tidy your room does not say where to start, does not say when it is finished and promises nothing. A mission says all three: it has a name, exactly five tasks, runs for twenty timed minutes and ends with a rank. Inventing that is precisely what AI does in ten seconds without complaining.

The mission

I am [AGE] years old and I have to tidy my room. Turn it into a mission in the style of [secret agent assignment / pirate inventory / museum catalogue]. Give me a mission name, a short briefing and exactly five tasks that fit into twenty minutes together. Each task covers one spot in the room only, for example the desk or the floor in front of the bed. Invent names for my three boxes that match the mission: one for what stays, one for what goes, one for what moves to storage. And at the end, the rank I earn if I complete all five tasks.

• Twenty minutes on a visible timer. When it rings, you stop, even if something is left: tomorrow there is another mission.
• Three real boxes, not piles on the floor. A pile wanders back on its own, a box does not.
• One spot at a time. Whoever starts with the desk finishes the desk, even when wardrobe things show up.
• Loud music, yes. It is the only thing that makes twenty minutes feel like five.

The adult has a role and it is harder than it sounds: be nearby and do not direct. What goes into the goes box is the child's call, even when the call makes no sense from outside. A drawing from three years ago can be recycling to you and treasure to them, and the other way round just as easily. If their decisions do not count, the next mission never starts.

I have completed my mission and I am going to dictate my findings report. I will tell you what I found, how much went into each box and what the strangest find was. Turn that into a short official sounding report in the style of [my mission], with a date, a list of finds and a closing line to headquarters. Use only what I tell you and do not make anything up.
