One bedtime question a day: conversations instead of screens

Instead of ending the day with one more video, end it with a question that opens a conversation.

Many evenings at home end the same way: everyone on their own screen until their eyes close. There is a small, powerful alternative: one single question before sleep that invites talking. It costs no extra time, you just change the last gesture of the day.

This is where AI comes in, but not to chat with your kids. You adults use it for a moment, to get a list of warm questions tailored to the ages in your home. Then you close the app and talk person to person.

Get your questions

Copy this prompt
Give me 7 bedtime questions for a family with kids of these ages: [AGES]. Warm, easy to answer, in this tone: [MOOD: funny, deep, silly]. One per night, and please do not make them feel like a quiz.

Examples of questions that work well: what made you laugh today, what small thing went right, who do you want to thank tomorrow. Concrete things, no big lessons.

Turn it into a ritual

  • Same time, same place: the bed, the couch, the table after dinner.
  • No phones in sight, not even the adults' phones.
  • You answer first, to set the example and break the ice.
  • If one night nobody feels like it, that is fine: the ritual comes back tomorrow.

In a few weeks you will notice you no longer need the list. The questions come on their own, and sometimes the kids are the ones asking. That is exactly what we were after: creating moments together, not consuming one more.

FAQ

What if my kids are very different ages?

Put all the ages in the prompt and ask for questions that work across them. A good question usually lands from 4 to 14.

Is it not strange to use AI for this?

The AI only gives you the starting point in a minute. The real conversation is yours, face to face, with no screens.
